I. Vision and Mission

Vision: Enable young individuals to become citizens of the world

Sweet Heart International School offers a bilingual academic program (English and Japanese) for both Japanese and foreign children. The aim of the program is to enable them to speak the language of the global society and help them become citizens of the world. SHIS students will have a strong sense of their own cultural identity and at the same time, are very accepting of differences in culture.

Mission: Provide a well-balanced learning experience for young individuals

At SHIS, we aim to develop a child’s different areas of learning through the following tasks and activities that we do regularly:

Physical Development – Our preschool and kindergarten programs both target the development of our students’ fine and gross motor skills. The younger ones enjoy rhythmic classes while our kindergarten students are able to work on their big movements as they practice skipping rope, jumping over a vaulting horse or walking with stilts.

Cognitive Development – At SHIS, students’ knowledge and understanding of the surrounding environment are increased through various age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive development such as solving simple problems or classifying objects for the younger ones and more advanced intellectual activities for the older ones.

Socio-Emotional Development – At SHIS we believe that a strong socio-emotional foundation is essential in learning and is correlated with the other areas of development. This is the reason why our program aims to develop a positive social-emotional growth in each child in order to instill self-confidence, trust, empathy and curiosity as they deal with different persons in their sphere of influence. Students learn how to socialize and sympathize with their peers through proper disciplining methods and are encouraged to be more independent as they learn various life skills.

Ⅱ. Programs

A. Preschool (3 months to 3 years old)

At SHIS, we believe that it is never too early to learn. As they say, learning starts from the womb. It is for this reason why we cater to young individuals who are as young as 3 months old. Each day in our preschool program is filled learning activities that reinforce basic education concepts. Circle time that covers calendar concepts and monthly themes, workbooks, arts & crafts and rhythmic classes are just some of the fun things that we do in our preschool class.
